Rett Specialists from across the country will be participating and observing the world-class Rett Clinic
Denver, CO: The Rett Clinic at Children’s Hospital Colorado is welcoming Rett specialists from across the country for a Learning Collaborative on May 8th and 9th 2019. The two day event includes presentations for parent support group partnerships, best practice discussions for care delivery, sharing patient experiences and assigning thought leaders to individual clinical quality measures as well as other educational topics.
The Rett Clinic received the Center of Excellence Award from RettSyndrome.org in 2017. It is a multi-disciplinary clinic and has a very special set up where parents with their Rett children come to one convenient place and can see up to 15 specialists – doctors and therapists in one location.
Dr. Benke, Director for the Rett Clinic at Children’s Hospital Colorado states: “We are the only Rett Clinic in the US that provides the type of care that Rett patients get. It’s very clinically and patient focused.”
The Rett Clinic was formed early in 2010 through a partnership between the Rocky Mountain Rett Association (RMRA) and the Children’s Hospital Colorado. An initial gift from RMRA has funded the establishment and initial coordination staff of the Clinic. RMRA provides ongoing funding and depends on donations to continue and expand Clinic operations. Open one day a month patients with Rett syndrome and Rett related disorders are accepted for appointments. In 2018 68 patients were seen from 24 different US countries and Canada.
