RMRA’s Annual Spaghetti Dinner Brought in Over $6000!

The Rocky Mountain Rett Association invited its members and the public to a Spaghetti Dinner with Silent Auction and Bingo Night on April 23rd, 2016 in Louisville, CO.

It was a fun night out for the entire family. From small to big, everyone enjoyed Spaghetti’s! Although the weather was less than ideal since it was snowing all day, people still came out to support the fight for a cure for Rett syndrome!

Bob Shorma did a fantastic job organizing this event with over 100 items available for bidding at the Silent Auction. Items included restaurant gift cards, fun outings to places like the Arvada Center as well as massages and skin care packages. As a special treat, Silent Angel Sophie worked hard to bake dog biscuits with her friend Niru and they were well received by all the dog lovers in the area!

Cathy Shorma gets extra kudos for recruiting all of the wonderful High School girls to help clear dishes and organize the entire auction. The High School girls helped with the setup, teardown, the auction, clearing tables as well as helping various Rett girls play bingo and eat. Thank you also to all the people and businesses that donated items for the auction!

Instead of the usual raffle items, the board decided to go a different route this year and offer a cash raffle. The idea paid off with the winner donating money back to the RMRA, so $480 went directly to the RMRA!

A big thank you goes to the Tri-City Elks Lodge in Louisville, which graciously donated their place and kitchen to feed over 175 people. The Elks also handed over a check for $3,209 for the Rocky Mountain Rett Association.

Overall this event brought in over $6,000 to support the Rett Clinic at the Children’s Hospital, which is 1/10 of the costs of running the Clinic on an annual basis!

Please mark your calendar; the 2017 Spaghetti Dinner is tentatively planned for Saturday, April 22nd at the same location. We are looking forward to another fantastic event!
