RMRA’s 2nd Annual Mommy & Me Makeover Magic

The Mommy & Me Makeover Magic is a day for Rett girls and their moms to be pampered and enjoy a day together without the usual doctor or therapy appointments. That is the idea behind the Mommy & Me Makeover Magic, which was held for the second time on February 11th, 2018. What started as an ad hoc idea by RMRA Board Member, Bob Shorma, in late 2016, has turned into an intimate and fantastic event for about 22 attendees.

Each year Amanda Shields opens her Wild Roots Salon exclusively for the Rett girls and their moms to have a special day together. Her team pampers the participants and Esthetician Anne Buhl, owner of Zen Glo, offers light facials and skin care advice and Julie Winz helps Anne with makeup. To make the day even better, Allison Dutton provides massages. The magical day is captured by photographers Paul and Mary Sue Schultz, see photos below. Thank you also to Starbucks, which donated coffee and drinks and Family Home Health Services of Boulder for donating gift bags.

RMRA wants to thank all volunteers for providing their time and expertise to make Rett girls feel special. Looking pretty is usually not high on the list with all the medical issues, so this day will for sure remain a very positive memory in all the families. Volunteers are really touched by seeing the struggles that the girls and moms have, while still keeping a smile on their faces.
